The Story Behind The Willie and Betty Farrior Family Foundation
The Willie and Betty Farrior Family Foundation is more than an organization—it’s a legacy of resilience, determination, and hope.
It all started with Willie A. Farrior, a young man from Talladega, Alabama, who faced a life-altering challenge—he lost his eyesight as a teenager. In a world that often overlooks those with disabilities, Willie could have been counted out. Instead, he refused to be defined by his limitations.
With no clear path forward, Willie took a job at Alabama Industries for the Deaf and Blind as a broom maker. But he didn’t just work—he innovated. He reimagined the production process, increasing efficiency and output, leaving behind a system that is still in use today. His story proves that circumstances don’t define potential—determination does.
Inspired by his perseverance, the Farrior Family Foundation was created to continue his mission—to lift others up, break down barriers, and create opportunities where they once didn’t exist.
We are here for the student who dreams of college but worries about affording it.

We are here for the families striving for a better future but lacking the resources to make it happen.
